Kanpai BBQ & Hotpot is IVEA's Southeast Asian BBQ and shabu shabu buffet at 1701 Rockville Pike, Suite A10 in Rockville, MD, on the first floor of The Shops at Congressional Village. The idea is a journey through Southeast Asia without leaving the table.

Two ways to cook

The restaurant combines grilling and hot pot. On the BBQ side, meats, seafood and vegetables are marinated with Southeast Asian spices and sauces and grilled at the table, from lemongrass chicken and satay beef to Thai curry chicken and cumin lamb. On the shabu shabu side, guests choose broths such as Laksa, Tom Yum or Spicy Green Mala, dip fresh ingredients into the boiling pot and eat them straight from the broth.

A room built around the table

Kanpai describes its dining room as a mix of traditional and modern elements inspired by the cultures of Southeast Asia. Every table has a built-in grill, under woven pendant lamps.

Beyond the table

The buffet adds dishes inspired by places from the streets of Bangkok to the beaches of Bali: Southeast Asian street food, fresh salads and desserts.
